What is an interactive whiteboard?

Interactive whiteboards are a revolutionary way to share information on your PC with your customers & colleagues or pupils in the classroom, training room or presentation room. Background

The Promethean Technologies group (formally TDS) has over 20 years experience in designing and manufacturing digitizer products for use in design, mapping and graphics applications. Based on this well-established, proven technology, the PRESENTA board has been updated to meet the requirements of all group presentations whether in classrooms, meeting rooms, training rooms etc. The PRESENTA board is manufactured in a 100,000 square foot purpose built plant in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Either way, our Activboard is designed to cope. It’s just another of the advantages of having our kit designed by teachers. And then tested to the highest degree.

Made with a solid screen, little kids, or big ones, can safely lean on it or rest their hands against it when writing. Dirty or paint smeared hands make no difference to its performance.

Kick it... hit it... throw a coin at it... stick a compass in it... it’ll still carry on working.

We even heard of one accidentally moved on a car roof in a downpour - with no ill effect. (Though, please note, comprehensive though the warranties are, this would be excluded!)

It’ll also happily cope with temperature changes. So, for example, heat in an uncooled classroom over the long Summer break won’t... break it. Even at Uluru (Ayers Rock).

The secret? Sitting behind the screens is our specially designed electromagnetic grid.

It’s unaffected by any damage to the screen surface.

And, by crosschecking three separate sets of co-ordinates, it allows incredible accuracy. On-screen tools, such as protractors, for example, can measure down to a single degree.

While our mouse pen writes just like a pen. And, with cursor, rollover, and click functions, acts just like a mouse. Minus, of course, those nasty squeaking noises... from chalk.

Px interactive software

Used in conjunction with the ACTIVboard and pad and the PRESENTA panel, Px software, provides an easy to use, intuitive floating toolbox of features to enhance the delivery of important information, making it more visually stimulating.

Designed specifically for ease of use, so even the most novice user can deliver exciting content rich presentations, training sessions or lessons with minimal training, Px provides an electronic flip chart and extensive range of presentation tools in the form of a customisable floating toolbox that may be moved around the screen and used to interact with any Windows application.

A unique pen is used to interact with the software. The cordless, battery-free pen provides the same function as your computer’s mouse but provides a natural pen input to use directly on the board’s surface.

Anything that would have traditionally been written on a standard whiteboard or chalkboard can be prepared and presented using Px software. The electronic flip chart has unlimited pages with a range of available backgrounds such as clocks, handwriting paper, maps, graph paper, grids and even a category for sport.

The difference using Px is that any work done can be saved to the computer for viewing, discussing, printing, emailing or reviewing later. Flipcharts can even be saved as either HTML or PDF files so you can easily share your work with people who may not have Px software.

Fundamental to Px, is the resource library. The resource library contains clipart images and backgrounds which may be customised to suit user’s needs and additional resources added as usage develops.


Features:

Contained in the Px toolbar are powerful features to help draw attention to key points. The pen tool uses electronic ink over any flip chart page or Windows application in order to write notes, take feedback, and brain storm ideas while the highlighter tool allows you to highlight specific areas of text. The reveal and spotlight tools, enable users can show just part of the screen that they wish to focus on. It is easy to insert text into your flipcharts using the on screen keyboard or converting hand-written text into ‘real’ text using the handwriting recognition tool. A range of drawing tools are also included so that you can quickly and easily add shapes, straight lines, arrows or customised shapes into your flip chart.

For use with the our range of interactive whiteboards, the Wireless link is a fantastic solution removing the need for trailing cables between your computer and Interactive Whiteboard by providing a reliable wireless connection between your computer and interactive whiteboard,

Particularly useful if you want to share your board between rooms, the link comprises of two adapters. You simply plug one adapter into the back of your PC and the other into the back of your interactive whiteboard. The two adapters then communicate with each other using Bluetooth technology, replacing the need for a cable.

Because the Wireless link is easy to install and reduces set up time, each time you move your interactive whiteboard you will be able to start using the board with the minimum of fuss.

The Wireless link also extends the distance allowed between your computer and interactive whiteboard. You could place your computer almost anywhere in the room, as the wireless connection works over distances of up to 50 meters.
