To discuss pricing on our ADSL services please either call 0118 9798910 or email sales@videocentric.co.uk ADSL Standard home broadband available through most telephone exchanges in the UK, offers up to 256Kb/s upload and 2Mbps download but usually at very high contention levels making it generally unsuitable for most real-time video communication applications. Although a number of ADSL links can be aggregated together using VideoCentric’s VidiLink service, this ought to be considered the exception rather than the rule, ie only where the telephone exchange is so remote that no other options are available. ADSL2 ADSL2 broadband offers up to 800 Kb/s upload and 2Mbps download at differing contention levels. It is available in different forms on 1,200 exchanges nationwide and can be purchased from the majority of ISPs serving both home and business users. For a single connection, we advise customers to contact a local ISP and make their own arrangements but where one ADSL link is expected to be inadequate to support the quality of real-time video communication required, the aggregation of multiple DSLs will be required. VideoCentric’s VidiLink service allows ADSL2 circuits to be replicated or mixed with SDSL, to increase total bandwidth but still maintain a single IP address. By mixing ADSL2 into such a solution, budgets can be maintained at a lower level than with SDSL or Leased lines. A single ADSL2 is delivered as a router for self-installation on to an existing telephone line. ADSL2+ ADSL2+ connectivity can achieve download speeds of up to 20 Mb/s, while providing uploads speeds at 2.6 Mb/s. It is available on fewer exchanges than standard ADSL and is also a contended service meaning that others will be sharing the same upload and download bandwidth but the all-important upstream bandwidth is always significantly more than conventional ADSL or ADSL2 services. Fewer subscribers to premium services also means less contention so that higher performance is almost guaranteed, although in practice no guarantees are offered and actual performance depends on the same factors as other DSL services, ie the telephone exchange you are connected to, the distance from the exchange, the number of subscribers locally and time of day. For a single connection, we advise customers to contact a local ISP and make their own arrangements but where one ADSL 2+ link is expected to be inadequate to support the quality of real-time video communication required, the aggregation of multiple DSLs will be required. VideoCentric’s VidiLink service allows ADSL2+ circuits to be replicated or mixed with SDSL, to increase total bandwidth but still maintain a single IP address. By mixing multiple ADSL2+ links into such a solution, performance levels can increase above those of SDSL or Leased lines despite the existence of contention. A single ADSL2+ is delivered as a router for self-installation on to an existing telephone line. Optional installation by VideoCentric will ensure that your router will be plugged in by an experienced engineer, VC system set up, IP address configured and the complete solution commissioned and tested across the internet. For those opting for MCU and ISDN Gateway services, these will also be tested prior to engineer leaving site and a brief overview of the components, how to administer them, support them and use them will be given. |
