News item: October 9, 2018

Pexip and Videxio Merger

The two companies, successful in their own right, plan to join forces to create an industry powerhouse that will offer a unique range of collaboration products and services.

Two of the leading innovators in the collaboration industry, Pexip and Videxio, have today announced their intention to merge together.

Videxio was founded in 2011 and is a global provider of cloud-based video conferencing and collaboration solutions and providing the backbone to the VC365 Video Conferencing service. The company has seen a growth of Annual Recurring Revenue of more than 270% over the past 3 years, with paid user traffic growing over 875%.

Pexip was founded in 2012, and provides a software-based collaboration platform, designed for both on-premise and cloud-based applications. The leading Pexip solution, Pexip Infinity, is a Microsoft-certified interoperability solution for Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business, and provides the most interoperable video conferencing platform on the market today.

“The Collaboration market is estimated to have a value of $35 billion US dollars and is growing at 26% annually as enterprises adopt cloud technology at a rapid pace. Due to the accessibility of cloud-based collaboration services, more organizations than ever before have access to visual communication tools,” said Odd Sverre Østlie, CEO of Pexip. “We know that many organizations prefer a dedicated deployment with tight integration into their IT network, and over time want to combine this with cloud scalability. Others prefer a flexible public cloud service. A merger between Videxio and Pexip will put us in a unique position to offer a product portfolio that will meet the needs of a broader range of users while we continue to introduce innovative solutions to the market. The joint sales and channel organization will ensure wider coverage, while the more diversified customer base will create an even more sustainable and robust business offering.”

Tom-Erik Lia, CEO and co-founder of Videxio has commented that he is extremely excited at the merger prospect, and believes that the bringing the two companies together will enable the best of both worlds, with outstanding teams and experience to enable growth, development and innovation. “Our channel partners will gain access to a broader portfolio of products and services to best address their customers’ collaboration requirements while our customers will enjoy a wider range of solutions and continued innovation.”

The combined company will be named Pexip and will serve more than 300 partners and resellers around the globe, with users in more than 195 countries. It will be led by a strong leadership and founder team from both Videxio and Pexip, with Odd Sverre Østlie as the CEO. Tom-Erik Lia will take on the role as Chief Commercial Officer.

VideoCentric’s Managing Director, David Shimell, commented, “Both Pexip and Videxio have strong roots, knowledge and expertise in the collaboration market, and the coming together of these two companies makes the entire offering stronger than the sum of the two parts. The future Pexip will have a unique offering in the market place as competitors now generally have either a strong on-premise offering or a strong cloud offering, but not both. As a long-term partner of both Pexip and Videxio, VideoCentric is in a fantastic position to support customers now, throughout the merger and into the future and we are extremely excited about the prospects moving forwards.”
