RADVISION
Enhances Cost-Effective Videoconferencing
Solutions for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
RADVISION EXTENDS VIAIP PRODUCT FAMILY
TO INCLUDE LOWER COST,
SMALLER SCALE CONFERENCING SOLUTIONS
Glen Rock, NJ, August 19, 2002 – As
part of its strategy to further the large-scale
adoption of videoconferencing among enterprises
and organizations of all sizes, the source
of award winning, industry-standard products
and technology for real-time voice and video
communication over IP (V2oIP™), today
announced the expansion of its viaIP product
family. The viaIP100 product line will allow
small to medium sized enterprises to benefit
from advanced videoconferencing features at
a price range that suits their budgets. With
the viaIP100 product line, customers with
videoconferencing networks consisting of three
to 30 endpoints can seamlessly bridge between
IP and ISDN networks, and handle multimedia
conferences of up to 15 simultaneous video
participants and 26 voice participants.
“Demand
for video, audio, and web conferencing services
has remained steady during the technology
and telecom industry downturn over the last
18 months,” said Joe Gagan, Senior Analyst
with the Yankee Group. “Since demonstrable
ROI for any technology investment is top of
mind for management of most companies, product
lines like the viaIP100 will prove to be very
appealing to buyers. Up until now, small and
medium sized companies looking for MCU services
have had to make compromises by either forgoing
advanced video conferencing features, or farming
out their multipoint conferences to service
providers. The viaIP100 product family will
enable them to reduce costs for video calls.”
The viaIP100
product family represents the next generation
of RADVISION’s solutions for small and
medium-sized enterprises or branch office
deployments, building on the company’s
earlier success with its OnLAN products. The
products in the viaIP100 line are based on
the same industry standard compliant technology
contained in the viaIP400 line, popular among
large enterprises and service providers for
its advanced video processing capabilities,
interoperability, and ease- of-use for end-users
and conference managers. With its lower price
point and smaller form factor, the viaIP100
line will make the same benefits available
to small and medium-sized businesses.
RADVISION’s
viaIP products provide enterprises of all
sizes with a range of solutions to meet both
current and future collaborative communications
needs. The viaIP100 product line supports
both ISDN and IP networks, thereby allowing
customers to easily integrate it into their
existing circuit-switched networks, while
enabling migration to packet networks on a
timetable consistent with their needs. Enterprises
can deploy the viaIP100 products as stand-alone
solutions in video conferencing networks with
only a few endpoints. Larger enterprise and
service provider networks can also use the
viaIP100 products as building blocks in a
distributed network architecture, providing
conferencing and gateway capacity in smaller
increments to reduce operating costs by optimising
overall bandwidth utilization across the network.
“RADVISION
was an early leader in providing videoconferencing
solutions targeted at small and medium- sized
organizations through our OnLAN products.
With the viaIP100 product line, we are now
expanding our offerings to these customers
by making our most advanced conferencing features
available in products sized to their needs,”
said Gadi Tamari, CEO of RADVISION. “The
viaIP100 product line breaks new ground by
bringing an unprecedented level of performance
to videoconferencing infrastructure products
targeted at smaller network deployments. With
our expanded lineup of viaIP products, we
are able to present industry-leading solutions
to all segments of the market.”
Release
of the viaIP100 product line supports RADVISION’s
strategy of offering a complete range of solutions
for voice, video, and data conferencing over
IP and
ISDN networks to companies of all sizes. It
consists of four different, self-contained
gateway and MCU units, including the viaIP100
mcu-15, viaIP100
mcu-15v , viaIP100
gw-P10 and
viaIP100
gw-B40. All of the products are
fully compatible with RADVISION’s existing
videoconferencing infrastructure offerings
and can be optionally ordered with a copy
of its Enhanced Communication Server gatekeeper
software.
Easy
Integration between ISDN and IP networks
RADVISION was the first company to introduce
gateway devices that integrated ISDN and IP
networks. The viaIP100 gw-P10 and viaIP100
gw-B40 are third generation gateway products
utilizing the most widely deployed gateway
technology on the market, offering a high
degree of interoperability with both ISDN
and IP network resources and endpoint terminals
They provide the ability to connect ISDN based
H.320 systems to IP -based H.323 systems and
endpoints. They seamlessly translate between
H.320 and H.323 networks to relay audio and
video streams from one network to another.
The viaIP gw-B40 interfaces to ISDN networks
through 4 BRI lines, and is able to support
up to 8 simultaneous voice calls and 4 simultaneous
video calls. The viaIP100 gw-P10 has a full
PRI interface to ISDN networks, and is able
to support up to 23 simultaneous voice calls
and 11 simultaneous video calls on a T1 circuit,
or up to 30 simultaneous voice calls and 15
simultaneous video on an E1 circuit.

Enhanced
Videoconferencing Functionality
Both the viaIP100 mcu-15 and viaIP100 mcu-15v
provide enterprises with increased flexibility
through additional videoconferencing functionality.
End-users are able to conduct scheduled or
ad hoc point-to-point or multipoint conferences
with audio, video and collaborative capabilities
and features, such as Advanced Continuous
Presence, which provides them with an enhanced
and simultaneous view of conference participants.
The viaIP100 mcu-15v also provides enhanced
video processing capabilities that allow conference
managers to dynamically change the video layout
“On The Fly” during a conference
call, as well as enable participants to enter
a video conference call at different data
rates without degrading video quality for
all parties to the lowest common denominator.
