New
RSPCA Headquarters enhances its IP communications
infrastructure to reduce travel and save time
& costs
VideoCentric Ltd installs
RADVision ViaIP Multipoint Server and Gateway
to facilitate voice and video meetings across
the RSPCA’s converged network.
Wokingham,
Berkshire, UK – September 6th 2002 --
VideoCentric Limited, the Video-over-IP Specialist
who resell and integrate best in class technology
for voice and video communication over IP
have successfully supplied and installed the
latest multi-site conferencing technology
at the RSPCA’s new Headquarters in Horsham,
Surrey.
In order
to extend earlier cost-saving measures to
other RSPCA sites, the Cisco voice-over-IP
infrastructure has been upgraded to allow
multiple parties to join the same audio conference
and to introduce the capability to communicate
visually over their own broadband network,
thereby incurring no extra line usage costs
and reducing the need for as much travel amongst
management and employees.
In implementing
the second stage of its IP convergence strategy,
Matt Winckless, Technical Communications Manager
at the RSPCA said, “Our converged network
which consists of an IP phone on every desk
has already begun to demonstrate the benefits
we expected. Having undertaken extensive proof
of concept trials before our first installations,
our users are now impressed with the speed,
ease of use and functionality of our IP solution.
By adding multi-site and gateway technology,
we not only extend the benefits to other sites,
but make the reduction of wasted travel time
and associated costs a reality”. He
went on to add “As a charity, we are
dependent upon the generosity of the public
and we must endeavour to continually keep
our overheads to an absolute minimum. Telecom's
charges and the need for travel are obvious
areas to target, and I am confident that our
investments in technology will help us re-invest
savings into our fight against animal cruelty”.
David Shimell,
General Manager of VideoCentric Ltd said,
“VideoCentric is pleased to have been
chosen to integrate the new RADVision equipment
into the RSPCA’s existing and successful
IP communications infrastructure. Having worked
with multipoint technology for over 15 years
and IP communications for the past 5 years,
our staff have the expertise to provide expert
installation and unrivaled technical support.
Additionally we will ensure that any enhancements
offered by the manufacturers, RADVision, are
quickly made available to the RSPCA for the
benefit of all concerned”.
