parents join son's wedding in New Zealand
. live by internet video conference
VideoCentric Ltd sets
up live internet video conference for proud
parents to join son's wedding in New Zealand
Wokingham,
Berkshire, UK - April 7th 2002 VideoCentric
Limited, the Video-over-IP Specialists who
focus on the supply and support of the world's
leading technology for voice and video communication
over internet and intranet networks, have
installed new technology at the home of Mr
& Mrs Davies in East Barnet to allow them
to join their son's wedding service and reception
in New Zealand, live by internet video conference
The
"virtual wedding", the first of
its kind conducted over the internet, was
a 5-hour event with live video and audio in
four parts, (1) the outdoor wedding service,
(2) personal one-to-one conversations between
the bride, groom and best man with their UK
family and friends, (3) after-dinner speeches
from the indoor reception and (4) live speeches
in the reverse direction, during which, UK
toasts to the happy couple were seen and heard
live by the guests in NZ.
To
ensure that the atmosphere in the UK was as
close to the real thing as possible, family
and guests attended the video conference dressed
in formal wedding attire; the home had been
decorated to replicate the wedding reception
using matching flower arrangements and colour-coordinated
table decorations; wedding favours (sugar
coated almonds wrapped in bridesmaids' colours)
were sent from NZ and even a tier of the wedding
cake had been flown half way around the world
for the UK guests.
Craig
Brown, Technical Director of VideoCentric
Ltd who set up the link in the UK at 05.30
Sunday morning (16.30 Sunday afternoon in
New Zealand) said, "We are pleased to
have established such a video conference for
the families and guests involved. Its was
not possible for Mr & Mrs Davies to make
the long trip to New Zealand, yet the new
technology, a VCON ViGO Professional system,
connected to a standard laptop PC, and a high-speed
internet connection enabled us to link the
proud parents with their two sons, Jeff (groom)
and Martin (brother of Jeff), and Christine,
the bride".
