New IPNexus application adds to VCON's solution set for rich media
(September 23, 2002) Austin, Texas - VCON (Nouveau March? No. 022021), a worldwide leader in visual communications solutions, introduces IPNexus to enable secure instant messaging and application sharing services within an organization's Intranet. IPNexus is one of the rich media applications integrated with VCON's Media Xchange ManagerTM (MXM), an integrated client server combining video network management, rich media applications and an IP video PBX.
IPNexus, integrated with MXM 3.0, enables satellite offices, telecommuter's, customers, and suppliers to become part of a secure and integrated collaborative environment without the risks associated with public instant messaging services. IPNexus incorporates a number of features that include:
- IPMessenger - an instant messaging application enabling two or more users to conduct an interactive chat session.
- QuickNote - allows users to create 'electronic notes' which can be distributed to either a single or large number of users simultaneously. Respond by a simple mouse click.
- IPSnapShot - allows users to take and immediately send a snapshot or a select segment of their PC screen to one or multiple users.
- IPAppShare - enables a large number of differently located users over a network to collaborate on documents or applications located on the same network.
- IPQuickPoll - enables a user to send poll questions to other users on the network for data collection purposes in either a "yes/no" and/or a multiple-choice questionnaire format, while the answers can be automatically and graphically illustrated on the electronic page.
- E-mail Option - allows a conference call participant the ability mass email with one click; e-mail address are logged automatically by the system.
- File Transfer - allows sending documents between session members by using the efficient FTP protocol, without limitations on the file type or size.
An organization's IPNexus server may be installed either within or outside of the network's firewall, giving the IT department full control and creating a secure instant messaging and collaboration environment. IPNexus allows 1000 simultaneous client logins per server.
