The Media Xchange Manager (MXM) is at the core of VCON’s integrated conferencing and collaboration solution. The architecture of the MXM makes it effectively multiple products layered together in one solution, providing combined value for the network administrator and the end user.

The interface layer and the management/administration layer provide the most value for the network administrator who is responsible for the initial deployment and on-going support of the richmedia network.

The video telephony layer and integration with rich media applications provide the most benefit to the end-user community that is looking for easy-to-use tools that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of performing their job.

Application Modules for the End User
The MXM provides unique value to the end user when combined with other VCON rich media conferencing applications.

The first is the VCON conference bridge, providing multipoint conferencing and streaming with unique features like ad-hoc conferencing and combined SIP-H.323 conferences.

The second is a secure instant messaging and collaboration application called IPNexus. IPNexus takes instant messaging and web-sharing to another level, allowing users to add video to an instant message session.

The third application is the VCON conference moderator, a comprehensive web-based scheduler and conference moderator. The VCON Conference Moderator can schedule point to-point calls, as well as multipoint calls, gateway calls and recurring events.

All VCON rich media applications are centrally managed by the MXM.

Benefits for the Network Administrator
The MXM has a full suite of tools for centrally managing and administering the rich media network. Many of these tools allow for policy-based decisions by the administrator.

The MXM also offers the administrator a real-time monitoring tool as well as a comprehensive reporting and billing tool. These tools can be used for fine-tuning the policy management decisions and for making necessary adjustments to the physical network topology itself. For physical device administration, the MXM administrator has complete access to the configuration settings for every VCON endpoint and resource on the network, right down to the users’ preferences. With this access, they can preconfigure the endpoints’ settings or change them according to policy changes - even when users’ endpoints are not actively logged on.

Additionally, the embedded web manager in most non-VCON devisces can be directly accessed from the MXM console.

The MXM allows for VCON's ViGO, vPoint desktop clients or Falcon settop appliances to be remotely upgraded or re-installed with a new software image. Just imagine the productivity savings and user satisfaction resulting from this in a network with hundreds or thousands of endpoints dispersed across several locations.
