Mainstream videoconferencing system typically comprise several components - a videoconferencing codec, camera unit (sometimes these are combined into a single unit (known as a set-top), desktop microphone & all necessary interconnecting cables. Most units can be situated on shelves above or below wall or stand mounted flat panel TV's, and in the case of seperate codec units, behind the TV itself (wall or stand mounting).
